Fanuc ARC Mate Sr.
The FANUC ARC Mate Sr. is a sleek and compact unit which was designed and built
specifically for use in automated arc welding and cutting applications. These
can include areas in MIG, TIG, and plasma welding, as well as plasma cutting.
It is well-suited for use in conjunction with all the foremost arc welding
equipment, as well as numerous incremental or servo driven positioners. The
robots small base footprint, six-axis articulating design, and large work
envelope make the unit extremely versatile and therefore perfect for use in
small, economical, high paced operations where positioning and precision are a
must. The mechanical units’ direct-drive design removes worries about
maintenance of belts, chains, or ball screws, and its use of harmonic drives in
the robots wrist further increases its ability for swift and even operations.
The presence of RV speed reducers in the three major axes facilitates the units
well known ease of operation at low speeds while still maintaining the stroke
of the axis and its high speed performance. The unit’s six-axis design allows
for programming at the best possible weld position, and thanks to the ARC Mate
Sr.’s high levels of repeatability, the speed and efficiency of weld operations
is dramatically increased. Furthermore, the actual arc-time can be as much as
2-3 times greater than that of manual welding applications, and when placed in
combination with the increased positioning and welding speeds which reduce the
cycle times for each operation, an increased production capacity is gained.
This high repeatability of the ARC Mate also helps to eradicate the many errors
that can arise during manually performed welding applications, particularly
those of overwelding. Programming of the ARC Mate is relatively easy, and its
ability to be reprogrammed makes part changeover quite simple, and since the
unit is programmed to due the task exactly the same every time; gas, wire, and
electricity expenditures are also decreased furthering the savings on supplies
needed for operation. The controller for the FANUC ARC Mate places the
electronics, including servo amplifies, I/O boards, and the CPU, in a
dust-proof, air cooled front panel access cabinet allowing for ease of
cleaning. The Teach Pendant is easy to use with its backlit LCD screen (8 x 40
characters), and features LED status indicators, a deadman switch, and error
code and alarm message displays.
