Fanuc S-10
The FANUC S-10 is in fact the sister robot of the FANUC ARC Mate Sr., and as
such is virtually identical in every way. Streamlined and lightweight, the S-10
unit was designed and built for use as an all around general purpose robot with
a variety or applications in mind. These can include areas in automated spray
and dispense tool applications, injection machine unloading, machine load and
unload/part manipulation, mechanical assembly, material handling, and trimming
applications. It can be fitted with an end of arm tooling (EOAT) package for a
myriad of uses, and is compatible with equipment in each of the application
fields. The FANUC S-10 has a small base footprint, and the ability to be
mounted not only upright, but angle mounted and inverted as well. The six-axis
articulating design and large work envelope make the unit extremely adaptable
and therefore perfect for use in limited space areas where location and
accuracy are paramount. As is the case with its counterpart, the mechanical
unit has a direct-drive design which removes problems about maintenance of
belts, chains, or ball screws. This design, along with the S-10’s use of
harmonic drives in the robots multi-turn wrist, increases its ability for fast
and steady operations. The three major axes all have RV speed reducers that
help make possible the units ease of operation at low speeds as well as at its
highest speeds. The S-10’s six-axis design is an extremely rigid construction
and greatly increases its durability while still allowing tremendous
positioning flexibility for programming making it possible to be positioned for
hard to reach places. The FANUC S-10 has a high level of repeatability and
increased positioning ability thanks to its six-axis articulation. Utilization
of this helps to reduce cycle time for each operation while simultaneously
increasing production capacity. The ability of the S-10 to be programmed and
reprogrammed for different application changeover effortless, and since the
unit is programmed to due the task exactly the same every time, consumable and
electricity expenditures are also decreased. The controller for the FANUC S-10
places the electronics, including servo amplifies, I/O boards, and the CPU, in
a dust-proof, air cooled front panel access cabinet allowing for ease of
cleaning. The Teach Pendant is easy to use with its backlit LCD screen (8 x 40
characters), and features LED status indicators, a deadman switch, and error
code and alarm message displays.
